Home Theater Geeks 23: The World According To Tom Norton
Guests
- Tom Norton, Senior Editor, Video Technical Editor for Home Theater magazine
Tom Norton earned BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. During his service in the US Air Force, he was a pilot-engineer, flying both fighter and transport aircraft and managing engineering contracts, with assignments that sent him to Vietnam, Thailand, and Germany in addition to US assignments from Florida to Los Angeles.
A lifelong interest in audio and video (including a brief flirtation with his own small, irregular, miniscule-circulation audio-review publication), led him to begin writing for Stereophile magazine in 1986. In 1990, he moved to Santa Fe, NM to work full time for Stereophile as Technical Editor and then Consulting Technical Editor.
When the Stereophile Guide to Home Theater was launched in 1995, Tom also served as Technical Editor of that publication, writing for both SGHT and Stereophile. In 1999, he took over as editor of SGHT. He continued in that capacity as SGHT morphed first into Ultimate AV and then UltimateAVmag.com in 2004. In 2008, he moved over to become Senior Editor and Video Technical Editor for Home Theater magazine. He continues to contribute a blog to Ultimate AV.
