Maxwell's House 60: Digital Color Photography
Topics
1. In Science, you have to ask the right question
- Luge accident at the Olympics
- Many are asking, “Did the luge racer make a mistake and caused his own death.” The IOC has said, “The track was safe and the racer made a mistake.
- I would ask…If a racer makes a mistake is there any way that they could not be contained by the construction of the track and if they left the track, are there any obstacles that they could hit and do serious injury?
- There is always some risk when speed is involved.
- Does life have to be at risk to make the sport exciting?
- Aerobatics in a glider and skydiving.
- Many are asking if the Christmas under pants bomber should been given his Maranda rights and tried in a U.S. court. There have been suggestions that we should use torture to extract intelligence.
- I have not heard anyone ask the following question…If a U.S. citizen, be they a soldier, private citizen, or CIA spy, is arrested or captured by a foreign power, how do we want them to be treated. Should they get due process? Should they be tortured? Should they be sent to a remote country and held without any rights? What we think about a foreign power who mistreated our citizens?
- Should we behave in the way that we want other countries to behave or are we special and don’t have to comply with international agreements.
2. Capturing Color with a Digital Camera
- Digital cameras do not output color…They output a set of numbers that must be reproduced in color by a color workflow involving software, monitors, and printers.
- Bayer pattern… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Bayer_pattern_on_sensor.svg
