Google has decided to postpone the launch of two Android phones in China, which was supposed to happen on Wednesday, agencies report. Although Google has entered talks with the Chinese government to discuss the future of their its business in China, it’s now obvious that, until the situation is resolved, other aspects of Google’s business in China will suffer, too. The news that China Unicom is postponing Android-based phone launches really shows how big the fallout from the Google-China dispute is. It’s not only about Google’s search business in China. Google also stands behind one of the most important mobile platforms of today:Android, and cutting business ties with China would mean the demise of Android in one of the world’s biggest markets.

According to the analysts at research firm Gartner, mobile application stores are expected to generate revenues of nearly $7 billion over the course of this year. That figure is a combination of the $6.2 billion spent purchasing the mobile applications themselves combined with an additional $.6 billion generated through advertising revenues from in-app ads. Not surprisingly, Apple dominates this market, accounting for 99.4% of the market as of last year, states the report.

Frustrated with Facebook’s maximum image size? According to the Facebook Developers’ page, users can expect to see larger photo sizes beginning tomorrow and rolling out over the next three weeks. Before you get too excited, know that the increase is going from 604 pixels to 720 pixels, but hey, bigger is bigger, right?
If you have a Facebook application that queries the photo FQL table or uses photo.get, be sure to update your styling to accommodate these new sizes. It’s not just photo uploads that are changing in size; Facebook is also changing the size of profile pictures. In the next few weeks profile pictures will move to 180×540 pixels, this is down from 200×600. Yeah, that’s right, profile pictures will now be smaller. Again, developers, adjust your applications accordingly.

(Walked away from Google in Dec…around $550M says Techcrunch) Yelp is an online urban city guide that helps people find cool places to eat, shop, drink, relax and play, based on the informed opinions of a vibrant and active community of locals in the know. Yelp is the fun and easy way to find, review and talk about what's great — and not so great — in your world.
