Tech History Today

Just wondering if anyone is working on making a tech history today page under " netcasts " if not this should be done.

thanks,

Willitwork 07:34, 10 October 2011 (PDT)

A stub for Tech History Today was created earlier, I added it to the front page. sharp65 09:26, 10 October 2011 (PDT)

Beta Shows

I was just wondering if we should consider making a category for the " Beta " shows on TWiT ie. At the Controls, Iyaz's new show ect. I dont think we need to add all of them to the front page nessisarly but mabye a category on the front page that says " Beta Netcasts" that goes to a page with info about them?

What do you think?

Willitwork 09:01, 28 August 2011 (PDT)

I think there should be "Beta Netcasts" category. A new linked page would good. But the more I think about, there should be a "Past Netcasts" category too. A new linked page would good too. Also, where does "Game On" and "Shut Up and Play" go; it's not in "Beta"; but it's "coming soon". TayStad 18:57 November 2011 (PDT)

Set Category in show iformation

As you may have seen I added a Set:_____ line under the first papagraph of every current show stating what set the show is recorded on. I was hoping to put this information into the info box allong the side of the show page ( under the album art ) but after playing around a bit I found that I cannot add a category into the info boxes, I think the " set " is a good category to add. If anyone can help me getting the set info into the info boxes on the show pages I would appreciate it.

Willitwork 10:18, 27 August 2011 (PDT)

Thanks

I added an entry for the set in the podcast infobox. As an example I filled it out for This Week in Tech so you can see what it looks like and how I specified it. sharp65 23:47, 27 August 2011 (PDT)
Great I will add them to all the Podcasts info boxes. Thanks!Willitwork 08:28, 28 August 2011 (PDT)
I have added the " Set " category to all the Current podcasts Infoboxes, and I will try my best to keep them up to date. Thanks again! Willitwork 08:50, 28 August 2011 (PDT)

Cleanup

I did a large amount of cleanup today. Fixed tenses and grammar for shows, especially retired ones. Removed some especially outdated references, like one saying that DGW is not available as a video from TWiT and can only be downloaded from ODTV.

The DGW page still needs to be changed to Weekly Daily Giz Wiz, but I don't have that level of access.

I went through the various audio and video pages and removed dead links, deprecated software, and outdated facts (like Stickam resolutions).

In the coming weeks I hope to do a full writeup on the Brick House equipment.

Twitcolin 12:29, 21 August 2011 (PDT)

I made the change to the DGW page on the main page so thats all set. Geoffsan 12:40, 21 August 2011 (PDT)
Hey Geoffsan, you protected my TWiT Beta Site page, and now I can't edit it ;) Twitcolin 12:56, 21 August 2011 (PDT)
Oh sorry, I thought you had admin privileges but it's reverted to what it was. Geoffsan 14:00, 21 August 2011 (PDT)

Hosts vs. Guests

Is there any consensus about the host versus guest question? I think that many of the people on the hosts page could be moved to a guests page. The host should be the person Leo has chosen to lead the show. Ernie Svenson, Collette Vogele and Marty Schwimmer have each been on many episodes of TWIL, but I would call them recurring guests, not hosts. Denise Howell is the host. Pat Buchanan appears almost daily on Morning Joe, but he isn't a host Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski are. I understand the need to differentiate people like Patrick Norton from others who may only have been on a couple of episodes, but it isn't accurate to call him a host. Maybe there could be a guests page and a featured guests page. --RockyOnasis 11:00, 22 January 2009 (EST)

Yeah I think this should be looked at... Makes sense to separate the " guests " From the " hosts " ... anyone else think we should do this?? Willitwork 08:56, 28 August 2011 (PDT)

this Week in Fun

Should a new page be added for this week in fun? I know leo isn't on the show but Sarah and Martin are making it a regular thing now. ChrisJones 18:15, 5 February 2009 (PST)

  • Sarah said last night that they were working on making it the first official video podcast on twit. So, yeah, I guess. Should there be a special section for shows that are, as Leo puts it, "in the workshop".--AaronAsAChimp 06:14, 7 February 2009 (PST)

New episodes of This Week in Fun are not created anymore. I think the This Week in Fun comment section should be removed; What do you think? TayStad 19:29 November 2011 (PDT)

Official TWiT gear (ScottEVest)

There should be a link on the main page to tell users they can pickup official TWiT gear at www.scottevest.com/twitlive --Kylehase 02:06, 7 February 2009 (PST)

Idea for new wiki page

I have this page idea for the wiki for like 'special' stuff like interviews or one time shows like the interview with Bear about XMPP and those types of special one time programing. I personally think this would be a good thing to add in -- so it would show those one time specials and maybe stuff in between shows. --Canadien posted at 17:30 PST February 19, 2009

A while back I created {{Infobox TWiT Live Special}} for those special segments. Currently only Ultimate Gaming Machine uses it, but feel free to create pages for other special content. -- Imperator3733 (talk | contribs | sysop | Logs: bdpr) 06:39, 23 February 2009 (PST)

Show Notes

I know that when I visit the wiki it is normally to get some more information from a specific show. I think that the show notes page link should be on the main page, and quite prominent. Mad101daN 02:21, 25 February 2009 (PST)

Future Changes

Locking Sections for Production Information

Within every episode article, there is a section for production information, with only the TWiT Staff to edit. However, these sections are editable (obviously). What if this was changed so that the article (episode) included a separate article (production info), but the production info was editable for TWiT staff users only (create a page and use the {{:Page_To_Include}} shortcode). There are pros and cons to this idea, but it's a thought.

TWiT Intro

Quick question for the FAQ page, that I don't know the answer to: Who is the intro (the "Netcasts you love, from people you trust. This is TWiT") by.

Leoville Town Square

As of tonight Leoville Town Square has been decommissioned and replaced by the TWiT Town Commons. The link on the main page should be updated for sure as well as anywhere else on the wiki the forums are mentioned. Thanks! BenFranske 19:16, 24 April 2010 (PDT) (Forum Administrator)

Thanks for the heads up, I've made the changes on the front page. sharp65 20:23, 24 April 2010 (PDT)

Game On!

Just a heads up to everyone. I created the new show page for Game On! at Game On!

Thanks all!

Main page Netcasts

I was wondering if anyone could fix the capitalization of "this Week in Law" on the main page so that "the" is capital.

iFive and TWiET

Anybody still watching this??

We need two new shows added, iFive and TWiET.

Main Page Idea

Just a thought, perhaps on the left hand column, we ought to have a list of Current Netcasts and Archived Netcasts. In Archived, we could have shows that are no longer being updated regularly. The list gets kind of long, and it would help keep it a little bit cleaner. Nickr (talk) 18:27, 26 August 2012 (PDT)

  • I agree. That list is too long. I think we could even move retired shows to a separate page with a link in the main list. -- Ncw (talk) 20:22, 26 August 2012 (PDT)
  • I also agree, and maybe the names can be cleaned up a bit too. Or maybe I'm just a perfectionist... BluPhoenix (talk) 18:26, 27 August 2012 (PDT)
