[edit] Tip of the Week
- Another reason to skip Windows 7 Starter - I've verified that Windows 7 versions that support Aero, Windows 7 Home Premium and up, actually perform better on lower-end hardware than do versions of Windows 7 that don't (i.e. Starter). This is true both on an 800 Mhz Celeron UMPC test system and my kid's netbooks. Moral of this story? You may get Windows 7 Starter for free, but you're still going to want to upgrade.
[edit] Software Pick of the Week
- VirtualBox 3 Why? It runs both 32-bit and 64-bit guests, unlike Windows VirtualPC. Also: Runs on Windows, OS X, Linux, and Solaris, supports virtualized Windows, Linux, Solaris
- Slight correction: It was said in the podcast that Virtualbox doesn't have the equivalent of "Union" in Vmware fusion... If I understand correctly this is actually pretty much the same as the "seamless" mode offered in Virtualbox! So there you go, Virtualbox actually does have a similar feature. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.41.154.139 (talk)
