Modes of Encryption
Starts 52:00
- Asymmetric, where one key is used to encrypt and another to decrypt
- Computationally intensive due to long key lengths being needed to get good security
- Due to this the message is encrypted using symmetric encryption and the key to it encrypted using asymmetric
Symmetric block ciphers
- 128 Bits go in, 128 bits come out.
- Transformed into a different 128 bits
- Change 1 bit on the input half of the output bits change
- Other input the key
- Strength of the encryption gets stronger exponentially with key length
