Topics
- Pink launches next week
- I'm sure this will be covered as broadly as the iPad (cough)
- And: Windows Mobile still a strong number three in phones in US, tied for number 2 in Europe
- IE 9 "momentum"
- Whatever -- the big news is that a second platform preview build is coming in mid-May
- Zune HD 4.5 update goes live
- Some interesting new features for the device:
- Smart DJ - on-the-fly playlists, more powerful with a Zune Pass
- Picks - music recommendations
- TV interface to Marketplace (music only) If you have the dock, sort of like Apple TV - but with online streaming (with ZP)
- Better codec support
- Some interesting new features for the device:
- Xbox 360 and USB storage support
- Limited but interesting
- Wa-wa-waaaaa ... iPad sales fall short of expectations

- And how come it hasn't sold out? You have to think they didn't make that many
- Someone else is finally asking this question too. "Apple fell short of [its] target."

- A bigger problem: The device itself is "good". But it's not breathtaking (or groundbreaking). It's just a big iPod touch.
- Broader issue: 3G connectivity. As-you-need-it 3G access with hot spot capabilities should be added to the iPod touch too. **How cool would that be?
- iPhone 4.0 announcement - initial thoughts
Windows 7 Feature of the Week: Problem Steps Recorder
- Windows 7 includes a new utility called the Problem Steps Recorder that captures screen shots of the steps a user is taking so that help desk personnel can provide a fix without physically having to visit the desktop. It's designed for IT pros, but it can be used by anyone to get help, assuming they know someone more technical.
Windows 7 Tip of the Week: TechNet subscriptions are a cheap way to get Microsoft software
- Cheapest subscription is $349 - You get full versions of Windows 7, Vista and XP, Windows Server 2008/R2 and 2003, Microsoft Office and standalone Office apps, and more. It's not for commercial use. But that shouldn't stop an individual for using it for personal use.
- Thanks to Jeff Sprouse for the tip.
Software Pick of the Week
- iTunes Export - Ideal for people wishing to interoperate between iTunes and Zune (or WMP)
- 3RVX - Replicate the Mac OS X volume overlay in Windows
- Thanks to Daniel Namahoe
