"All this discussion regarding the chance of Apple releasing a 7 or 8" iPad is a clear case of not seeing the forest for the trees. For all the reasons Steve had spoken to in the past a smaller iPad will not be in the making. Rather Apple will follow their pattern and drop the price of iPad 2 to compete in that market.
Think different a 7" iPod built and specially designed for gaming!! Ala the Sony Vita, this would be the only reason Apple could justify putting its developers thru coding for a odd screen size. It would also validate Apples recently acquired gaming talent. A 7" iPod with built in touch controls would capture the very profitable gaming market and it's Halo effect would be huge.
